Overview
Co-empowerment work requires a commitment to one’s own empowerment and to assisting others in this journey. We are using the concept of “power with” in these gatherings. Our concept of power is generally one of power over/domination. Much of our work revolves around claiming our personal power and magnifying it by our connections – with our inner essence and gifts, with spirit, with the elements and/or with other people.
Co-empowerment works with three roles – Seeker, Ally and Perfect Nag.
The Seeker and Allies are used consistently during the exercises. Groups of three are created with One Seeker and Two Allies for each exercise. The roles change so that each person has the opportunity to be the Seeker for each technique.
The Perfect Nag is an Ally who works with the Seeker after the co-empowerment workshop is completed and reminds the Seeker of their contracts and/or commitments to themselves.
The Seeker is the person who is exploring their own inner landscape. They need to be willing to be emotionally vulnerable and willing to share their deepest known truths. They complain, face their fears and step beyond them, explore their desires and receive help in creating them. They move into an empowered place from which we can create synergy. Using this synergy we can create irresistible ideas that can by their formation spread and affect culture.
The Allies support the Seeker by asking deep and penetrating questions which guide the seeker into a process of self discovery/awareness. Allies will watch for times when the Seeker is emotionally charged and help the Seeker delve deeper into those issues. The Allies are looking for a common thread or pattern that may help the Seeker discover the crux of the matter or a core issue to focus on. It is an important role of the Allies to make sure that the Seeker feels heard and acknowledged. The Allies use deep questioning to help the Seeker discover their own insights and answers. More detailed guidance and questions for Allies to use are incorporated in the fingerbooks for each technique.
The Perfect Nag is in ongoing relationship with the Seeker and needs the Seeker’s full cooperation. The Nag is perfect, because the Seeker had contracted in advance what they wish to accomplish, how they wish to get there and what nudging will be most effective. The Seeker acknowledges that the Perfect Nag is of his/her own making.
